Three Greek words to keep in mind!

Aristotle writes that persuasion is based on three things: the ethos, or personal character of the speaker; the pathos, or getting the audience into the right kind of emotional receptivity; and the logos, or the argument itself, carried out by abbreviated syllogisms, or something like deductive syllogisms, and by the use of example. — Randal Marlin

This was incredibly stressful, I had to rush through it. I did learn about the appeal of writing, Logos, Ethos, and Pathos. I need to get some help on this eventually. I think as a writer you really need to know which way to write something to reach the audience. I see that using the appeal of Logos, Pathos, and ethos we can write to anyone using the same story. This writing can be unbelievably valuable in the future. The assignments so far have been clear and highly organized. I did have a problem this week with some things. The assignments are getting a lot harder and more of them. Some things like the appeals. I could use a live class or a couple more weeks on.

In my definition words, I found a great way of looking back.

Logos The Greek word “logos” is the basis for the English word “logic.”

Ethos is related to the English word “ethics” and refers to the trustworthiness of the speaker/writer.

Pathos is related to the words “pathetic,” “sympathy,” and “empathy.” Whenever you accept a claim based on how it makes you feel without fully analyzing the rationale behind the claim, you are acting on pathos.
Now if I can remember all three, Pathos is the easy one, using pathetic of empathy I can get this down. I will work on the other two.
